Bicycle Kayak Trailer | | | | Designer Chad Wiles with his Kayak Trailer | - Guest Project - Designed by Chad Wiles and Built by custom bike builder JP Boylan (JamesFrames.com,) this one-of-a-kind trailer carries two full-sized touring sea kayaks behind any bicycle. It's unique flex-hitch system simply clips to the rear axle quick release skewer. The long tongue attaches to the lower boat, using the structural integrity of the boat hull to supplement the lightweight 1" mild-steel square tube trailer tongue.

| This trailer has been load tested up to approximately 300 lbs, hauling lumber and other loads in addition to its original purpose of hauling boats. |
| | | | Kevlar flex-hitch allows 180 degree left turns | The flex-hitch features a kevlar-steel reinforced tube. This flexible member eliminates the need for complex hinge joints allowing the bike to both lean into turns and to make tight U-Turns. The hitch is directional, limiting the bike to turning only approximately 30 degrees to the right, enough for typical navigation of roads and smooth, unpaved trails. |
However the strength of the design is the ability to turn 180 degrees to the left, allowing the biker to make U-turns within the length of the boats or even reverse the boats into a parking space without putting a foot down. |
